Pilots: You Would Not Survive the Zombie Apocalypse
The movies packed the axes. The CDC packed the water.
The apocalypse needs a grocery list.
In 2011, the CDC used a zombie outbreak to teach ordinary emergency preparedness. The joke worked because the useful response was not cinematic: assemble water, food, medicine, first aid, a radio, documents, hygiene supplies and clothes. Current CDC guidance says to store at least one gallon of water per person per day for three days, while Ready.gov includes a manual can opener for canned food. Our survivor planned for every staircase and forgot both. The prepared zombie brought beans.
