Kyle the farrier comes to trim hooves. Bella calls it spa day, and Pepper wanders off to the hay net.
Hooves grow back. Friends stay close.
A hoof is keratin, like a fingernail, and grows a quarter inch or so a month, so ponies need a trim every six weeks or so, and its outer wall has no nerves. Horses are herd animals, and horse people call the worry of being apart "buddy sour."
