Butterflies in Your Stomach
A prim butterfly moves into an old anatomy chart's stomach, and where "butterflies in your stomach" comes from.

The earliest known butterfly in a stomach is in Florence Converse's 1908 novel The House of Prayer, where a train going down the valley gave a man a sad feeling "as if he had a butterfly in his stomach." By the late 1930s golfers and actors had butterflies before the big moment, and in 1942 a paratrooper said everybody had as many butterflies as he did.
